Password Protection
The primary goal of a businesses is to be able to make a profit based off of whatever they happen to be producing. Most people are going to be working under the assumption that whatever their final profit numbers end up being is how much they make, but in house upkeep can put a pretty substantial dent into these numbers. One area in particular that can become a financial strain for companies is how much money needs to go into their tech system. You’re not going to need a top of the line computer for most businesses and buying in bulk does help to reduce the price.
Of course once you’re done buying the computers you still have to maintain them. Hardware and software upgrades are usually relatively inexpensive, most ranging anywhere from ten to fifty dollars apiece. Even with the frequency in which they keep coming out it isn’t too expensive to stay up to date, at least for a single individual with one computer. Ten dollars for a piece of software might seem miniscule, but when you have to provide the upgrade to a hundred computers ten dollars suddenly turns into one thousand, and that’s just for a single upgrade.
It isn’t possible to take purchasing software out of the picture, but it is possible to greatly reduce how much you need to purchase through the use of a virtual machine. A virtual machine is a server that is hooked up to a bunch of guest computers. Through the server, the guest computers are able to access software without actually having to physically have it themselves. In order to do this however you will need to make some upgrades to the base computers so they are actually able to access the server, and of course the server will still need to be upgraded as well but overall you will still be greatly cutting costs.
There are of course some concerns with having everything running off of one server which is why the guest computers need to have the least privilege amounts possible. Password protection software will enable that none of the guest computers are able to get into any of the main settings of the server, but still allow for IT support to get in and make any necessary changes. Virtual machines are very easy to customize and allow you to give the guest computers the most optimal settings for whatever job is required of them.
